Best Gaming Laptops – Buying Guide

Hardcore gaming enthusiasts would already know what differentiates the best gaming laptops from the riffraff. For others, this buying guide comes into play.

Central Processing Unit

Into games like Assassins Creed 4, Watchdogs, and Battlefield 4? Then you’d know the importance of a powerful CPU as these games are power-hungry. The same is true if you want to play multiplayer, as the CPU, to track down multiple profiles and not to lag behind, needs a lot of power.

If you play intensive games like those mentioned earlier, you can’t go below the Intel Core i7 quad-core processor. For mainstream gamers, like those who play FIFA online, a dual-core i5 would do the job.

Graphics Processing Unit

Ask gamers, and they’d tell you that it is the GPU which is the most important part of a gaming laptop as it is the one which would do all the hard work to provide crystal clear graphics.

For hardcore gamers, the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 800 Series is a must as it offers better features like 3D surround, battery boost, and even streaming. For the casual ones, either GTX 760M or Geforce GTX 850M would be sufficient.

Resolution

While 1080p would be enough for most of you, the hardcore gamers need 3k laptops for a clearer picture. That said, the 3k resolution would mean nothing until it is powered by at least GTX 870/880M GPU. That is, because, since 3K gaming provides 3 times as much resolution as 1080p, it needs the GPU to work 3 times as harder as well.

Conversely, if you found 3k to be expensive, go for 1080p. In addition to being cheaper, it won’t force the GPU to work hard, which means higher frames per second would be guaranteed.

VRAM

Want the GPU to function properly? Choose a gaming laptop which provides it with its very own VRAM to store frames, textures and other necessary features to provide frames to the monitor.

And while choosing a VRAM, the higher you go, the better it is. Still, if you want figures, we’d recommend 3-4GB of VRAM to be enough for most gamers, even the hardcore ones.

Keyboard

A good gaming keyboard needs to have these three factors. First, their key depth should lie somewhere between 1.5 and 2 millimeters for a firm feedback. Second, it should offer the feature of customizable backlighting.

Third, it should have the anti-ghosting feature, which means you should be able to press multiple keys at once, and all of them should register.

Storage and RAM

Anything below 1TB in storage, and if you are an extensive gamer, you’d find the laptop consuming the space in no time. And even if your laptop does offer 1TB, make sure it gives the option to attach an SSD.

As for RAM, anything below 6GB, and you have no right to call your device for gaming. We generally recommend 8GB RAM because not only does it offer more power, but it also costs nearly the same as 6GB.

Conclusion

Choosing the best gaming laptop might not be easy, but we have done the hard work for you. We have researched the 7 best gaming laptops for your consideration. While none of these laptops are without any shortcoming, all of them are packed with features that could make them endearing to the gaming enthusiasts like you.
