Some may believe that Apple clearly has the leading edge over Samsung owing to the latter’s recent decline in the market, but Samsung has recovered quite well and is enroute to compete head to head against its competitors.

So when you go out to purchase a smartphone for yourself, which one should you choose? Which one is the overall better choice? To determine the better of the two, we must look and judge two specimens across a variety of significant aspects. So here is a comparison of two of the best selling models by either of the brands, the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

DISPLAY

The displays on both Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6 is rather similar. The display of S7 is expectedly larger than the iPhone standing at 5.1 inches while the iPhone stops at 4.7 inches. Owing to AMOLED technology, the Galaxy S7 has a better, brighter, and sharper display as compared to the iPhone. But the S7 lacks in pressure-sensitive 3D touch display which the iPhone has.

DESIGN

While the Samsung Galaxy S7 is certainly an improvement over its past designs like its immediate predecessor, the S6, with a body of full metal and glass and having ditched the unattractive plastic, it still lags behind Apple’s iPhone. The iPhone 6S is also similar to its predecessor but appears to be curvier, with softer edges. The iPhone 6S is also thinner and lighter compared to Galaxy S7 at 7.1mm thickness, 143 grams and 7.9mm thickness, 152 grams respectively in measurements. But the Samsung Galaxy does take the edge when it comes to dust proofing and waterproofing, which the iPhone 6S is not.

CAMERA

Both the models essentially have the same camera lens with a 5 Megapixel front camera and a 12 Megapixel rear camera. What makes either of them different is the aperture. Samsung’s f?1.7 aperture as compared to iPhone’s f/2.2 aperture means that the S7 will be able to take much better night shots. This is because the lens is designed to capture bigger pixels which translates into more light.

STORAGE

The iPhone takes preference here as it allows the user to have multiple options to choose from according to their needs and requirements. The buyer can choose from either of 16GB, 64GB, OR 128GB storage when it comes to iPhone 6S. The Samsung Galaxy, however, does not give you the choice and comes only with 32GB of storage space.

BATTERY

When it comes to the battery, Apple devices are notorious for having poor battery life. Compared to the iPhone 6S’s 1715 mAh battery pack, Samsung S7’s 3000mAh takes precedence. The battery life of S7 is better and longer than 6S.

PRICE

The 16GB storage iPhone 6S is the cheapest of all, starting at $650, with the prices increasing as the storage capacity increases. The Samsung Galaxy S7, with fixed storage at a price of around $670.

THE VERDICT
